Comparing Home Security Companies-Which One?
You have probably seen some of the many home security companies advertised on TV on a regular basis. The most commonly viewed ads are for Brinks, ADT and Guradian. You have heard of them so often you are probably wondering are these the only sources for monitored buglar alarm systems? If you do a “Google” or “Bing” search there are literally several hundred home security companies for you to compare. So if you want to find a company that’s right for you and your home, what do you do? What are some of the most important qualities of a good security company?
Most security companies will offer twenty-four hour monitoring of your home and alarm. This will often consist of employees in an office that listen and watch for any indications their may be a situation. They will then call emergency services. This is the most common procedure followed by all home security companies.
Because of this it is important to know how many remote locations they maintain. If one location were to go down do they have another capable of wtaching your system? Does your own security monitoring system get rerouted to another? There are a few modest home security companies that may have just a single location which would render them incapable of watching your home in an extreme situation.
Another question to ask is has their personal been adequately trained? You need to be confident that an experienced specialist will be on duty to handle an emergency competently. There are home security companies that are owned and trained by former police officers or other trained security professionals and some with no experience at all.
The monthly fees and installation costs are another important issue to figure into your choice in home security companies. You shouldn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for home security but you do want to be sure you are getting what you are paying for.
And if you’re not very comfortable putting in your own alarm system, you may want to check if these home security companies do installation for you or if they simply sent you a kit and expect you to have it installed yourself. While it’s certainly possible to do it yourself, it may be worth the extra money spent to be sure that you’re doing it correctly.
One of the last questions about long term contracts. Be sure you read the fine print and understand if there are any penalties involved if you need to cancel early. Look into each company, compare their attributes and training, history and performance, it is important to get the security you need.
