The Door Shield wraps around the lock area of the door to help prevent the door from splitting when kicked. Unlike competitive products, our Door Shields are made of steel and are powder coated, so it can be painted. 2-3/4 backset and New Low Profile Pieces are now available!
Steel residential doors have a foam core and a lock area that is supported with wood. If you reinforce your jamb, your deadbolt will split your door, unless you reinforce the area around it.
Alone, these pieces should be used only to cover-up damage on an existing door (without jamb reinforcement they are relatively useless as a security device). Once the jamb is reinforced, they are an extremely important part of our overall systeThis piece is an integeral part of the Door Jamb Armor System. If you use the other components without this piece, your door will split. However, this piece is relatively useless without the rest of the Door Jamb Armor system because your jamb will almost always be the first thing to break if your door is kicked.
Do not buy this piece seperately unless you are using it to cover up cosmetic damage.
